General tips for newcomers on safety and efficiency.
While currently aion hasn't done much to prevent botting or crack down on botters, the following guidelines may help you get reported less, and will generally increase your efficiency.
The Fight tab: Scripting and Waypoints:
-To record a path from the obelisk to your grind area, simply hit record next to the obelisk, and walk the safest and least conspicuous route to your grind area. Once you get there, hit "stop" and save your script. To enable it, you must load the script that you saved. As of 1.11 it does not auto-load.
- The default radius for a waypoint is 30. I use this only in areas with very few objects that can get you stuck. Nothing is more obviously bot-behaviour than running into a rock for 2 minutes. Use smaller radii to make the bot more precise.
- Try to set as many waypoints as possible, this will make you less conspicuous, as people will less often see you in the same place grinding the same mobs.
- Try to make your last waypoint right next to waypoint 0, so you can use the ring function. I find that when I set my waypoints for linearity, I don't take into account terrain when the bot follows it backwards. Ring is also more efficient because the mobs will have respawned on the beginning of your grind area if you set your waypoints properly.
-To save your waypoint configuration, there is a save area right below the script saving area labeled with the word "center". Saving a .txt file in the area will save your waypoints, which you can load at your convenience. Very useful for people who plan to bot alts.
The Output Tab:
-I almost never look at this. Shows messages related to bot usage.
The Skill Tab
- The Refresh button is your friend, use it any time you get new skills or your your text is bugged when using a drop-down menu. It will refresh your skill list visually and internally.
- The load default button is useful if you aren't willing to take the time to figure it out for yourself. Last I checked, it doesn't load stigma skills. Avoid using this if you can.
- The first skill tab is where you would put a skill you want to use initially but not after that. Like inescapable judgement for a templar.
-The attack skill tab is where you put your skills and first chain skill in order of priority. Because of the way the priority system works, you basically want to put your long cooldowns closer to the top. if you put an instant cast instant recharge spell on the top of that list, its all you're going to cast.
-Assist skills is where you put your buffs. The bot will maintain any skills put in this window as often as it can. So even if a mob strips your cleric buffs, it will recast them inbetween mobs. I've also used this for the Penance skill.
-Protect skills is where you put skills the bot should use if you aggro more than one mob. Keep in mind that the bot will continually spam skills that you put in this tab, so its best not to put something with no recharge here, because you wont cast anything else. Examples of skills that go here are things like ironskin, blessed shield, etc.
-Disable skill: use this area for chain skills you don't want the bot to try to use. For example, counterattack on a ranger. You can put other skills here too, but I don't understand what the use of that would be.
-Chain skill: this tab seems a little bugged, but I would put the chain skills you want the bot to use the most often here.
The Recycle Tab
-Inv full back; this will make your bot return to town and use its city script when your bag is full. Only set to check if you have you bot sell items automatically. (Covered later)
-Die back; makes you release. reses you at your bind point.
-Repair exp; will usually make your bot soul-heal itself. Dangerous - only use if you are confident your bot will not take a lot of pve-deaths.
-Wait weak; this will make your bot wait for res sickness to disappear before continuing.
-Drop down menu 1; this will make your bot return if you drop below the specified number of the specified item. useful for things like odella powder or other consumables.
-Arrow; makes your bot return if you have less than the number of arrows specified.
The next option allows you to logout of your bot takes a string of deaths. pretty self explanatory, just play around with it if you don't get it right away.
-Run city script; this will script your bot to run to the general merchant and any warehouse keeper at your bindpoint. You pretty much have to enable this to utilize the previous options correctly.
The buy area is where you set your bot to buy things at the general merchant. It will purchase as many items as it takes to reach the number specified. For example, if you set it to Greater Odella Powder - 1000, and you die, res at town, and you have 300 Greater Odella Powder left, your bot will buy only 700. I reccommend trusting this option, as buying more items allows your bot to function optimally longer.
Team:
This is an advanced tab for the use of bot trains. You don't want to touch this unless you know what you're doing anyway.
Protect:
This tab is where you set your bot to use consumable items and skills based on hp or mp percentages. The rest portion is what your bot will do inbetween fights, and the Fight portion is for during. So for example, don't put mana treatment in your fight portion.
I would recommend percentages to use for pots and skills, but it really comes down to gear, the mobs you're killing, and other things. The best way to configure it is to watch your bot.
The other section is logout triggers. So if you have gm whisper checked, your bot will log you out when a gm pms you. The same go for the other checkboxes. Personally, I only use the gm whisper. I've never been logged out by it.
Item:
This tab is where you set your bot to handle your inventory.
-Refresh box item will load your inventory onto the list at the bottom. When you click on an item in the lower box, it will appear in the upper one. Once it's highlighted in the top one, you can set it to or not to drop, store, or sell. For example, if you want your bot to drop those useless accuracy manastones you always find, simply set the bot to drop them.
Monster:
This tab is where you tell your bot how to handle different mobs.
One of the first things you should do when trying out a grindspot is refresh the nearby monsters, and disable all the level one critters. This will make your bot more efficient and less obvious.
advanced tip: If you really want to grind in an area with stealthed mobs, but find that your bot fails to attack mobs it can't see, set the stealthed mobs to "don't attack" this will make your bot not attack them until they break stealth.
The priority setting tells the bot which mobs to attack first. Useful if your are competiting for certain mobs. Don't compete for mobs.
This tab is also useful when not botting for finding named mobs.
Collection:
This tab is like the previous 2, except for collecting. Use it to specify which nodes to prioritize or ignore.
You can set your bot to both fight and/or collect back in the fight tab.
Special Function:
Attack to Speed up - this will drastically decrease the animation times on your screen. Does not greatly affect global cooldown, and is not the same as the ingame "attack speed" stat. Mostly will increase your dps by auto-attacking in-between skills.
Anti- Stealth- allows you to see stealthed players.
Action Speed up/restore - Will make your character animate very quickly. decreases runspeed. gets rid of attack animations. (Supposedly, I don't use this function). Restore will restore you to normal.
Control
Refresh- use this every time you change something.
Stop- stops training.
Assist- will use your assist skills for you.
Cancel- stops assisting.
Record/Stop - will record and stop recording scripts.
Load - Loads the script. You must do this every time.
This will be updated as I am proved wrong or things change.
